I’ve actually had people back in Lucedale, Mississippi ask me where the Czech Republic is. My grandma still calls it Czechoslovakia. People have no idea. They ask me if it’s really hot here.

What first interested you in the Czech Republic?
I’ve never been outside the US before and I wanted to travel, and it’s centrally located.

What have you learned about the Czech Republic so far?
Basically just the Velvet Revolution and Prague Spring. The architecture. Partying. Beer.

What’s your dream job?
I’d really just like to be a novelist, but if it all falls through I could just go back to my hometown and work for the newspaper.

What languages do you speak? How well?
I took Gaelic for a semester, but I’m not very good at it. I had to take one semester of a language and I hated French and Spanish.

What are you irrationally enthusiastic about?
My Tumbler account — I check it like 50 times a day. And social media in general. I try to join almost everything I can. It’s gotten to the point where it’s ridiculous. I have so many accounts I can’t even remember them anymore.
