The spring-semester student council took office January 26 and immediately began planning events to foster a sense of community among NYU students in Prague.
“I feel like Student Council is a great way to meet not just the students in the program, but the RAs and other staff at NYU,” said President Jenny Liang.
A sophomore at NYU’s Stern School of Business with a focus on accounting and economics, Lang said she does “a lot of event planning and community service back at NYU for various clubs so I definitely had some experience before coming to Prague.”
Vice President Molly Hurwitz, a junior at NYU, participated in her high school’s student government. She said believes Student Council can be a great help in forming “life-long bonds” among the student body it serves.
NYU junior Christina Apollonio will oversee the student council’s CZK 30,000 budget. NYU sophomore Dana Skerry is the student council’s secretary for the semester.
Among the events already hosted by the student council were film screenings in all three residence halls January 31, an ice-skating party February 3 and a Super Bowl pre-game party February 6.

The student council meets Mondays at 6 p.m. in the library at the NYU Center (Malé náměstí 2). All students are encouraged to attend.
